This Week In Science #9

What I Did.

This Week In Science we had to research about the animals we was going to dissect. Also we dissected the animals that we researched which was a perch, skate, frog, and mouse. Me and my partner Mayra dissected a perch which is also known as a fish. What we did was cut the perch open to find the organisms. What we found was a heart, and probably the liver which im not really sure because when my partner cut the perch open she kind of destroyed the inside parts of a perch.

what I Learned.

I learned that a perch is common name for a fish. A perch is a freshwater gamefish that belongs to a family of percidae. I also learned that the body type of  a perch includes a somewhat long, and rounded structure. Also a perch have a rough or ctenoid scaled, meaning that the scale is smooth but is rough which is also going to make it look like skin. A perch is a carnivourous fish that are can be found in ponds, lakes, streams, or rivers.

Structures and Functions

The two animals that were dissected was a skate and a perch. The smilarties between a perch and a skate is that they underwater but diffrent kind of waters. The type of water the skate lives in is a salt water.

TWIS #8

This Week In Science we learned the safety on how to use the scalpel when we start to dissect. Also This Week In Science we did a Dissection of a Craw fish or a Grasshopper. So me and my partner Mayra chose the crawfish which we had to dissect. But it was kind of gross but my partner and I got through it. I also learned what a Dorsel view is which is like a Top view from its back. A Ventral view is a view that you can see from its stomach which is also known as abdomen.

What I Learned.
When my partner Mayra dissected the crawfish I learned that its feature of its body has five legs on each side which it uses to walk around. And I also learned that the yellow stuff that was inside of the crawfish is the liver. When I found out that the yellow stuff that was inside the crawfish was its food that it digested. Crawfishes live in a enviroment that has to deal with water like lakes, rivers, etc..  Also I learned that a crawfish does not have bones.
